My name is Jay. My wife Carrie and I fell in love with log homes ever since we rented a log cabin on a skiing trip to Boone, North Carolina. We didn't get to do much skiing though. We went late in the season and the day we went to the slopes it turned out being in the 60's. What was left of the snow turned to slush. Anyway, we had planned to build a home of our own but our original plans called for a conventional stick built home. I guess we thought it was too expensive or just a dream to even think of owning a log home. One day we were walking through the grocery store by the magazine rack and notice a beautiful log home on the cover of a log home magazine. We both stood there oowing and ahhing at the pictures. As we stood there, it came to us that we hadn't even explored the possibility of building a log home. So we bought the magazine and took it home. This was the start of our research. As it turns out, log homes are no more expensive than conventional stick built homes. It all depends on what you put into them. We had about two years of research under our belts when we started our log home and we are still learning things.  Looking back, we wish would have known even more.  But I guess that is always the case.  But with God's help we commenced building and this site is our story.
